AnimalDoctor2009 asked:
I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 thousand dollars of dischargeable debt. I am college educated and usually able to logic my way out of a box. There are lots of online bankruptcy programs that would save me a considerable amount of money. But am I setting myself up for failure if I use an online program instead of an attorney?

John asked:
I know a lawyer would know more about this, but a friend and I are arguing about this in Business class. Say you own a corporation and you get sued. You lose the case and to avoid paying, I say you can file bankruptcy which will clear your debt and dismiss the case. Then after bankruptcy is filed, the company can be restarted or reinstated. My friend says it probably won’t do anything. What do you guys think?

Answerer asked: If I have stock in company that goes through bankruptsy, what happens to the stock owned by shareholders?
I’m not talking about an Enron-style collapse, I mean a company that goes through bankruptcy, but survives and hopefully will eventually recover.

I want to give up the house, as I indicated in my bankruptcy (which was just discharged) At issue for me, especially, property tax burden (should the bank then pay it?) and income tax (what response to give to the foreclosure to minimize or eliminate it?)
