Lehman Brothers has filed bankruptcy and is being bought by another company., Barclay’s. Do I buy stock under Lehman’s or Barclay’s, the company who is buying them out? It was said that trading of Lehman shares were halted because of the decision to buy.

I am trying to file bankrupcty without an attourney because quite frankly if I had $1000.00 or more extra dollars laying around to pay a lawyer I wouldn’t be filing. Anyway, there are places on the forms where you have to list the “date incurred” for each debt you are including. Some of these debts are very old and I can not remember when I incurred them. Some of them are credit cards and are several charges incurred over a period of time on one account. I am worried that if I enter a wrong “date” it will some how effect the discharge of that debt. For instance if I entered 2004 for a debt actually incurred in 2003, would any amount owed prior to the date I entered (2004) be excluded or would the debt be excluded alltogether if the dates aren’t accurate? Will my bankruptcy fail acceptence if the dates are wrong? What are the guidelines?

This person lost in small claims court and I was awarded $1500. Still haven’t collected it. The court and all parties involved are in California. Thanks. Yeah, I am concerned that the deadbeat will declare bankruptcy.

Today I called about my gift card for Bennigan’s and I received the following message.

“S&A Restaurant Corp. and certain affiliates have filed for bankruptcy under Chapter 7 of the bankruptcy code. The companies that filed bankruptcy cases are popularly known as Steak & Ale, Bennigan’s and Tavern restaurants. However, not all stores using these trade names have filed bankruptcy. For example, stores operated by franchisees are not named as debtors in these filings.

“It is our understanding the Michelle Chow will be appointed as Chapter 7 trustee for the entities that have filed. These are filed as liquidation cases. Future decisions regarding the affairs of the debtor companies will be determined and administered by the trustee.

My question is…

How do I file a claim? (There are many terms and questions on the form that I am not familiar with and I would love to see an example of a completed form.)
